Colours can be categorised as primary, secondary and tertiary. Read up on how you can combine them to create shades of your choice.
Primary Colours
The three primary colours - red, blue, and yellow, are also known as the parent colours.
Red is an Auspicious Colour and Represents Power and Love
- Lighter tones of red suit mid-sized rooms
- Dark red suits dining and living rooms
Blue Calms Your Senses
- Light blue is suited for bedrooms
- Dark blue is best for large bedrooms or living rooms
Yellow Symbolises Prosperity, Happiness, and Vibrancy
- Bright yellow is best for kids' room and study room
- Dark yellow is suited for modern kitchens
Secondary Colours
They are formed by mixing any two primary colours. Red and blue give you violet, yellow and red give you orange, and yellow and blue give you green.
Violet Energises and Creates Intimacy
- Light shades of violet suit any room
- Dark violet is suited for drawing room
Orange Symbolises Glory
- Light orange is best for small or mid-sized rooms
- Dark orange is suited for a fully naturally lit-up room
Green Depicts Youth and Hope, and Rejuvenates Too

Tertiary Colours
They are made by mixing a primary and secondary colour.
- Mix red and orange to get red-orange
- Yellow-orange is formed when you mix yellow and orange
- Yellow and green together give you yellow-green or lime/lemon
- Green-blue or aqua/turquoise is formed when you mix green and blue
- Blue-violet is formed when you mix blue and violet
- Mix red and violet to get red-violet
